broken thoughts - safe lights

Photography is emancipation from this chaotic world of madness.

Seated right in front of the Chingay parade held once a year in Singapore reminds me of the February of 1973 where the parade was held partly as a result of the ban on firecrackers due to fire hazards a year earlier. This ban was viewed unfavourably to Singaporeans, as it dampened the festival mode of Chinese New Year period.

Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew mooted the first Chingay Parade in Singapore to address this issue, to bring back some cheer to the general public.

Today, as I sit here constrained, safe away from fire hazards, sharing the space with fellow Singaporeans, enjoying the safe lights that my Prime Minister saw.
