The Agsagoff Arab School was founded in 1912 by its founder and benefactor Syed Mohamed b Ahmed Alsagoff. The institution only enrolled boys for the first 3 decades of its existence, after the end of the Japanese Occupation of Singapore girls came to be enrolled. Eventually in the mid sixties, it was decided that the school should only cater for girls as the decreasing demand for the enrolment of boys could be entrusted to other madrasahs (Arabic word for education institution)
